FabLab, Researcher and Maker
Between October 2013 and April 2014, I conducted research for my master's thesis, which focused on the relationship between open design and FabLab. During the last months of 2013, I had the opportunity to visit two distinct FabLabs in Lisbon and engage in observations. Throughout my visit, I held discussions with FabLab staff, volunteers, and users of the space. It's worth noting that, at that time, Turkey had not yet established a FabLab. My research aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the spatial concept that embodies the democratization of digital production, the maker movement, and the strong relationship between FabLab and open design, particularly through open-source software.
In 2021, I took part in the team that established a FabLab at the Izmir Institute of Technology Faculty of Architecture, where I was serving as a research assistant. I contributed to project writing and graphic tasks such as logo and poster design within the team.
